Varsho Earns Spot on USA Baseball Premier12 Roster

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Former Milwaukee baseball player Daulton Varsho was named to the USA Baseball 28-man roster for the Word Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Premier12TM, announced today by the organization.

 USA baseball's roster is made up of 15 pitchers and 13 position players currently not on an MLB 40-man roster and features six former national team alumni and seven top-100 prospects in the MLB Pipeline including Varsho at No. 100.

 The WBSC Premier12TM is the first opportunity for Team USA to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and is set to begin on November 2 in Guadalajara, Mexico. Joining USA Baseball in Group A is the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and the Netherlands. The top two nations from Group A will advance to the Super Round in Tokyo which takes place from November 11-16.

 Varsho and the rest of the team, managed by four-time World Series Champion Joe Girardi, will begin training in Surprise, Arizona on October 21 at the Kansas City Royals Spring Training facility before traveling to Mexico for the opening round.

 Varsho, who was named Arizona Diamondbacks 2019 Minor League Player of the Year, played for the Panthers starting in 2015, capping his MKE career with Second-Team D1Baseball All-American honors. He had an impressive junior campaign, leading the Horizon League in batting average (.362), slugging percentage (.643), on-base percentage (.490), triples (6) and walks (46), while also finishing fourth in total bases (128), fifth in hits (72), sixth with a team-high 11 home runs and seventh in runs scored (47).
