MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Interstate 43 between Brown Street and Capitol Drive is getting a makeover, which means lane and ramp closures overnight.
CBS 58 obtained Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) video from Thursday, June 1 showing some drivers blatantly ignoring construction signs.
At one point, a driver got out of his car, moved a barricade and drove up the closed ramp. At least 30 cars followed.
A Milwaukee County Sheriff deputy fixed the barricade and temporarily blocked the ramp.
After the deputy moved, another driver moved the barricade and the process repeated.
Meanwhile, cars weaved in and out of traffic cones and closed lanes.
The video shows one deputy stopping four cars all at once.
This isn't a stand-incident. Drivers also ignored the rules of the road on Tuesday, May 30.
WisDOT Office of Public Affairs told CBS 58 it's aware of the unsafe driving behavior and is working with construction crews and the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) to control the traffic.
"Work zone barricades are in place to provide important signage, protect workers and protect drivers," a statement from WisDOT Office of Public Affairs said. "It's critical for the safety of everyone that drivers follow and obey the posted traffic control within work zones."
The lane and ramp closures continue on Friday, June 2 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. A full list of closures can be found here.
