Ski and tube into winter at Crystal Ridge Resort in Franklin
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee firefighters teamed up with the Milwaukee Admirals and Traction Factory to buy new winter coats for local kids.
Together they raised more than $15,000 for the "Warm Up Winter" campaign that provides more than 800 coats for children in Milwaukee.
The group stopped by Penfield Montessori Academy in Milwaukee on Thursday, Oct. 31 to pass out the new coats.
"Lots of kids in Milwaukee need coats and I'm so happy we were the lucky recipients of getting them. Every day our kids go out to recess. They're outside at the park they're outside doing lots of nature things and it's really wonderful for us to know they're going to be warm," said Kathy Ronco, executive director for Penfield Montessori Academy.
Warm Up Winter has brought and given out 40,000 winter coats to children in 93 Milwaukee schools over seven years.
