Waukesha man accused of murdering neighbor, hiding body pleads not guilty
WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Waukesha man accused of murdering his neighbor and hiding his body under a tarp pleaded not guilty Monday, Dec. 23.
Sixty-two-year-old Kevin Lychwick was arrested earlier this month in connection to Carlos Maldonado's death.
Police say the 56-year-old's name was found on what they believe is Lychwick's hit list, under the code name "Operation Slop Shop."
Based on what was allegedly written on that list, investigators say Lychwick may have been getting ready for another attack.
"The operations were listed out by name," said Detective Benjamin Stern. "The first one was named Operation Slop Shop. Right underneath, it said victim A's name - first and last name. There was a note that said, 'Operation Starling can commence, since Operation Slop Shop has been completed.'"
At the end of Monday's hearing, the judge ruled there was enough evidence to proceed to trial.
Lychwick will be back in court in February.
