Waukesha teen charged for deaths of mother and stepfather bound over for trial
WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Waukesha teen charged in the deaths of his mother and stepfather appeared back in court on Wednesday, April 9.
Nikita Casap, 17, was arrested in Kansas in March after he fled the state.
Court documents say he had been communicating with people overseas about his plans to kill his parents.
Casap has been bound over for trial, and more charges could be on the way. He currently faces two counts of first-degree intentional homicide and seven other felony charges including hiding a corpse and identity theft.
Prosecutors asked a detective with the Waukesha County Sheriff's Office questions about their investigation and every single count was addressed.
He described security video evidence in the family car Casap took to Kansas, and what he saw at the family's home on Cider Hills Drive in Waukesha.
“Things had been emptied from doors and closets, things were all over the floor, victim B's body appeared to have been deceased for some time, was unable to definitively identify who it was," said Waukesha County Sheriff's Office Detective Ross Seitz. "Continued walking through the residence, things were strewn about everywhere and we located a mound of blankets and pillows in the first-floor office that was meant to conceal victim A.”
The court commissioner found there was probable cause that Casap committed a felony.
The defense aimed to dismiss charges and did not enter a plea.
Casap's next court appearance, an arraignment, is scheduled for May 7.
