MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Only 6% of scouts get the rank of Eagle Scout, but high school senior Jack Walter has his eyes on the prize. For his Eagle project he hosted a blood drive with Versity Blood Center.
"I'm doing a blood drive for my Eagle project. It's something I've been planning for a long time, something I've been wanting to do for my community," said Walter.
Walter is a senior at Catholic Memorial High School. He's been with the Boy Scout Troop 159 since he was seven years old.
The senior said he wanted to not only do a good deed to in order to get a step closer to the Eagle Scout rank but to also help his community.
"So many people nowadays need blood. You know the hospitals are filled after Covid and stuff and people need it. It's one thing you don't always think but people are always receiving units of blood," said Walter.
On Sunday, the teen said he counted about 60 blood donors walk through the doors of St. Mary's School gym in Waukesha.
By the end of April, Walter will know if he got the Eagle Scout rank.
