CUDAHY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 45-year-old West Allis man has been charged with several felony crimes after a shooting in Cudahy's Sheridan Park.

According to a criminal complaint, officers responded to the park on June 28 for a report of an individual shot in the head. The victim was found on the ground on the walking path leading to the beach area of the park and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

After being treated, the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office says the victim told officers he had been at the park with a friend known as "Red," later identified by detectives as Leon Chatman. He said he didn't know Red's real name, but said he'd known him for about three months after meeting him at the VA hospital.

The sheriff's office says the victim stated he and Red have hung out together and on June 17, Red loaned him about $40 for food after he lost his job. The victim said he and Red met up in the afternoon June 28, and Red was upset over the money he'd loaned him.

Chatman has been charged with attempted first degree intentional homicide and two counts possession of a firearm by an adjudicated delinquent.

Cash bond has been set at $75,000.

A preliminary hearing is set for July 17.
