Wisconsin child care program gets funding boost

WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- Struggling child care centers can breathe a sigh of relief.
The pandemic-era Child Care Counts program will see a boost of funding after a Republican-led committee approved a request by Governor Evers.
Evers asked the committee to direct unused federal relief aid to the program, which has helped many businesses stay afloat.
The move will help some providers cover the cost of things like rent and utilities.
It comes after Republicans on the Joint Finance Committee rejected a budget proposal to continue the child care program indefinitely.
This means the additional federal funds will last until February.
