Wisconsin DNR reminds hunters of Sept. season dates

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- "Duck season!" "Rabbit season!" "Duck season!" "Rabbit season!" "Rabbit season!"

Wisconsin's Department of Natural Resources is urging hunters to mark their calendars for the upcoming hunting seasons this September. Several seasons, including those for bear, deer and various fowl, are set to open on throughout the month.

Seasons opening on Sept. 1 include Common Gallinule, Early Canada Goose, Early Teal, Mourning Dove, Rail and Snipe.

The bear season begins on Sept. 6.

A broader range of seasons opens on Sept. 16, including Cottontail Rabbit in the Northern Zone, Crow, Deer Archery and Crossbow, Goose, Ruffed Grouse in Zone A, Squirrels, Turkey and Youth Waterfowl.

The Northern Zone for Duck opens on Sept. 23, followed by the Southern Zone on Sept. 30.

Hunters are also reminded to follow firearm safety rules to ensure a secure hunting environment.
