MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Wisconsin Humane Society has reduced adoption fees for dogs due to high population levels across its shelter system.

Fees are now $75 for dogs over 6 months old and $25 for long-term shelter residents labeled as "benchwarmers." The offer runs through Wednesday, June 11.

In a Wednesday, June 4 press release, WHS said their dog kennel capacity has reached a critical level, with nearly 400 dogs currently in WHS care. More than 100 are available for adoption.

The humane society has facilities in Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Green Bay, Saukville and Sturgeon Bay. Dogs can also be adopted from approved foster homes.
