MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Tens of thousands crowded onto the Summerfest grounds on Saturday for their final taste of the world’s largest music festival.
The annual event attracted people from not only across the region, but the world.
“It’s a lot of people, nice weather. It’s everything you want for summertime,” Stephen McKenzie told CBS 58’s Ellie Nakamoto-White. “I had no intention of missing it.”
For first-timer Richard Mary, who worked at the Starry tent, the festival was “crazy and amazing.”
“I’m from Miami, South Florida,” Mary said. “People from Wisconsin are super nice. I don’t know if it’s the beer, but you guys are amazing and I kinda don’t wanna go back to Miami.”
Jared Gonzales from Madison, Wisconsin, said he was meeting up with coworkers he hadn’t seen in months.
“Oh, it’s so beautiful, it’s so open, there’s so much to look at, the drinks are the best here, the food's the best here, Wisconsin’s the best, Summerfest is the best, this is such a niche place to be at,” Gonzales said. “This is the best time yet; Wisconsin is the best state ever.”
Official attendance numbers for the festival have not yet been released.
