MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Prepare for liftoff!
The Milwaukee Bucks, Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers are once again joining forces for the Flight of Champions Stars and Stripes Honor Flights on Oct. 5.
Many gathered Wednesday at Lambeau Field for the planning of the flights.
Three charted aircraft will take off from Green Bay and Milwaukee, carrying 180 local veterans.
The flights will take them to Washington D.C. where they will tour the Arlington National Cemetery and various monuments.
"The beauty of this flight is in the end, veterans once again can be proud to be veterans. And that's really what it's all about," said Vietnam Army Veteran Leon Stein.
The events of the day will culminate with the veterans' return back to Wisconsin and a true "welcome home" celebration that many did not receive when they returned from overseas.
