Wisconsin State Fair day 7: Governor's Blue Ribbon Auction, shopper's fair-a-dise day and more
WEST ALLIS, Wis. -- (CBS 58) It's down to the final days of the Wisconsin State Fair and there's still plenty to see and do!
The Governor's Blue Ribbon auction gets underway at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
This is the 51st year for the event held at the Coliseum on the state fair grounds.
More than 600 Wisconsin State Fair junior beef, swine and sheep exhibitors compete for a coveted spot in the governor's auction.
Organizers said they've had a record number of applicants for scholarships this year.
This event raises hundreds of thousands of dollars every year to support youth and the farming industry.
The auction will also be streamed online, here.
The Shopper's Fair-a-dise Day returns Wednesday as well with deep discounts on select merchandise or even entire stores.
Wednesday is also Meijer Day at the fair. Visitors can save $4 on a single adult gate admission ticket when they show a Meijer receipt that totals $30 or more. The receipt must be dated between July 30 - Aug. 7,
The tickets have to be used before 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Wednesday night's headliner is Grammy-winning musician/actor Rick Springfield with Starship featuring Mickey Thomas.
