MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The woman accused of a hit-and-run on Van Buren made her first appearance in front of a judge.

Jenni Fischer is charged with hit-and-run and insurance fraud. Milwaukee police say she hit a man with her SUV, leaving him in a coma.

Family told police his condition is getting worse.

Police say Fischer also filed a false police report and insurance claim, saying someone hit her car while it was parked.

The Milwaukee County Court Commissioner, Barry Philips, addressed the face that before this, she had no criminal record.

"This is one of those unfortunate situations where, for all intents and purposes, a good person has allegedly done something bad," said Philips.

Her bond was set at $20,000.

As of Thursday, Dec. 11, records show she's still in jail.
