GERMANTOWN, Wis (CBS 58) -- Germantown police have identified the victim as 30-year-old Leah Gaines of Milwaukee County.

GERMANTOWN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Germantown police are investigating the death of a woman found with an apparent gunshot wound near Lovers Lane Thursday, Nov. 3.

Police say a resident contacted authorities after he found a woman in his vehicle who appeared to be deceased with what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

Law enforcement responded and cleared the property and numerous buildings.

Police believe this was a targeted attack and there does not appear to be a risk to the public.

Red crime scene tape could still be seen at the residence on Friday.

A nearby neighbor, Katie Henning, told CBS 58 the investigation began around 3 p.m. Thursday, with more than a dozen police vehicles at the scene.

"The road was completely blocked. When I came out, they told me to get back in the house," Henning said.

Henning said they told neighbors to stay inside until 8 p.m. Thursday.

Although police said there wasn't a risk to the public, Henning found the lack of information unsettling.

"A little uneasy, especially when they're looking around and telling me to stay in my house and not telling me why. I have little kids, so it's uneasy," Henning said.

Henning told CBS 58 she does not know the neighbors, but this isn't the first time police have come to their residence.

"A few months ago, there was a large police presence. No idea what was going on then either," Henning said.

Officials say the matter is still under investigation.

According to Germantown Police Chief Mike Snow, the department had several leads on Friday.

Authorities said they will release more details as soon as possible.
