MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) --- At least one person was sent to the hospital after a fire at an apartment complex in Milwaukee Saturday night, Jan. 3.
Residents were forced to jump out of their windows and many people remain displaced after the fire broke out at an eight-family apartment complex near 91st and Custer around 8:20 p.m.
Police say a 27-year-old woman was injured jumping out of a second story window. She was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive.
Heavy fire on the first and second floor took over the apartment building. Fire officials say they started off with a slow water supply. A nearby fire hydrant was frozen. However, they say they saved most of the building.
Several fire departments responded to the scene, including Milwaukee, Wauwatosa, and North Shore.
As of Sunday morning, police say the cause of the fire remains undetermined.
