KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Did you return home from a state park over the weekend only to find out your Elmo doll was left behind?

If so, don't worry. Elmo is safe.

A local woman spotted Elmo lying in the street on Hwy 142, just East of the Richard Bong State Recreation Area.

She took Elmo home with her where she's now hoping to reunite him with his rightful owners using the power of social media.

As of Sunday morning, her post was shared nearly 2,000 times in places as far away as Tennessee, Illinois, and Minnesota.
