MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) --The Republican National Convention is exactly one week away from Monday (July 15-18).

The city of Milwaukee is expected to host about 50,000 people from out of town, and hotels have booked up fast.

Many hotels in the downtown Milwaukee area, including Marriott Downtown, Drury Plaza, Residence Inn and the Hilton hotel told CBS 58 News early Monday afternoon that they are completely sold out from July 14--July 21.

Many visitors are also renting Airbnbs from locals who say they want to leave the city altogether to avoid the massive political event.

"We have no idea what this is going to be like, but we know that it's going to be compromising our ability to get around," said Andrea Bowes.

Bowes and her daughter Shanti Lleone are renting out their home in Milwaukee's Brewer's Hill neighborhood for the first time ever.

"It's definitely going to be inconvenient, as far as getting to the bank or going to the freeway," added Lleone.

Their property is listed on Airbnb for the week of the Republican National Convention. The three-bedroom, two-bathroom cottage is about a 20-minute walk from Fiserv Forum and includes two parking spots. It is priced at $888 a night.

"It would cost each person, for six people, $146 I think it worked out to, a person a night, is really reasonable, that's exactly what you would've had at a hotel, and it's private," said Lleone.

Many hotels in Milwaukee, Madison, and even Green Bay are completely booked for the convention.

According to Booking.com, those left cost thousands of dollars that week.

A house in Menomonee Falls is even listed on realtor.com to be rented exclusively during the RNC for $17, 500.

For the mother-daughter duo, however, the extra cash will be a bonus.

"To kind of give us some money for going to Europe, mostly," explained Bowes.

And if not, they told CBS 58 News they still will likely avoid the crowds, security checkpoints and street closures.

"I think we're going to go visit family, probably in Indiana, which is like a five-hour drive from here," she said.

Transportation and parking restrictions will be in effect starting this Sunday, July 14, throughout the RNC.
