Milwaukee (CBS 58) -- A boy from Hartford rang in his 11th birthday with the help of the Milwaukee Brewers.

When Noah Sitzman and his family headed to American Family Field to celebrate his 11th birthday, what he didn't realize was that he'd be getting a couple of surprises along the way.

"Noah deals with way more than any average 11-year-old has to," said his mom, Megan Sitzman.

Sitzman got a private shopping experience with Brewers Center Fielder Garrett Mitchell. Both Mitchell and Sitzman have type 1 diabetes.

“I am Garrett Mitchell the baseball player, but first I’m Garrett and I’m a diabetic," said Mitchell.

Mitchell says he wants every child with diabetes to know that it shouldn't get in the way of your dreams.

“To be able to help someone and continue to strive and show people what you can do with something like diabetes is important to me," said Mitchell.

After a private shopping experience and club house tour, Sitzman got to go down Bernie's slide. He will also attend the Brewer's game Tuesday night against the Braves.

“I mean the fact that a major MLB player has type 1 diabetes and he just sticks his pump in his back pocket, and he goes to play," said Megan Sitzman, "You can do anything you want to."
