2 injured after shots fired into Racine gas station, police seek suspects
RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Racine police are looking for suspects in an attempted homicide following a shooting that left two injured -- one critically.
Officers responded to the Amoco gas station on Douglas Avenue just after 10:30 p.m. Friday, July 10.
Both victims- two Racine men in their early 20s- were taken to an area hospital for treatment before one of the victims was flown to another location.
Police say investigators learned both men were inside the gas station when suspects began firing into the business, with multiple customers and employees both inside and outside.
"The perpetrators of this violence displayed blatant disregard for life and public safety within our community," Deputy Chief Jessie Metoyer said. "All citizens deserve to be safe in our community. While we want all our neighbors to remain safe, alive and free - we will not tolerate any actions that endanger that safety. Anyone found to be involved in perpetuating gun violence in our community will not remain free."
No suspects are in custody at this time. An investigation is ongoing.
