30+ trees planted at Bryant Playfield on Milwaukee's northwest side

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- If you walk to drive by Bryant Playfield on Milwaukee's northwest side, you should notice a bit of a new look. A total of 37 trees were planted along the field this afternoon.

The hope is those trees will help combat the area's urban heat island and create a sanctuary for wildlife and community members.

"People are realizing we need to green up our areas. Finally, we are able to do that," said Jordan Meyers, park maintenance manager for Milwaukee Recreation. "Once we get caught up on all these big projects that we're trying to catch up on, we can start being on the cusp of creating a better Milwaukee."

The tree planting event was organized by West Bend Mutual Insurance Company, Milwaukee Recreation Department, and the Arbor Day Foundation.
