MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police say a 48-year-old is dead after being struck and killed by a vehicle during the evening of Fri. Dec 26.

Police say the victim got hit at around 5:30 p.m. while crossing the roadway near North 41st Street and West Townsend Street.

That is near the Franklin Heights neighborhood in Milwaukee. 

The victim died after being taken to a local hospital.

The driver of the striking vehicle has been arrested in connection to the accident.

MPD says it is suspected that the driver was impaired.

Charges are expected to be referred to the Milwaukee District Attorney's Office.
