7-year-old shot in Milwaukee, mother taken into police custody

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating a non-fatal shooting that sent a 7-year-old child to the hospital near S. 22nd Street and W. Orchard Street.

The child, a Milwaukee male, is expected to survive. 

The child's mother, a 37-year-old female, was taken into custody as a gun was recovered on the scene. 

Charges are pending review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office. The investigation is still ongoing.
