80-year-old woman drowns in Lake Michigan in Sheboygan County
CBS 58 WILSON, Wis. (CBS 58) — An 80-year-old Sheboygan County woman is dead after she was found unresponsive in Lake Michigan on Saturday evening.
According to the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called shortly before 5 p.m. to the 200 block of Juniper Drive in the Town of Wilson after receiving a report of a woman floating motionless in the water.
The caller told dispatchers the woman appeared to be unconscious and was drifting toward the shoreline.
First responders began CPR upon arriving at the scene, but the woman was pronounced dead a short time later.
Investigators determined the woman had been seen walking in the water around 4 p.m. and again at approximately 4:45 p.m. by nearby residents.
The sheriff's office said it is believed the woman either accidentally drowned or suffered a medical emergency while in the water.
The incident remains under investigation.
