'A dream come true:' Pewaukee parents watch son play in March Madness games at Fiserv Forum

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- With a standout performance during Iowa State's game against Lipscomb on Friday night, Milan Momcilovic scored 20 points in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee. The sophomore forward's parents were able to watch him play 20 minutes away from their home in Pewaukee.
Nick and Zorica Momcilovic, Milan Momcilovic's parents, spoke with CBS 58 before Iowa State played Ole Miss Sunday night. Fans gave the team a send-off with the band playing and dozens of people cheering on the team.
The parents say they remember their son developing his skills growing up in Wisconsin.
“He loved sports, he loved being active, and he was really good at everything he tried," Zorica Momcilovic said.
Momcilovic brought home three state championships in his time at Pewaukee High School before making his way to Iowa State as the Cyclones' starting power forward.
When Momcilovic's parents learned of the possibility of their son playing in the NCAA Tournament in Milwaukee, they thought it was too good to be true. This weekend, they say their loved ones who live close have been able to watch Momcilovic play.
“When we saw it was Milwaukee, I jumped out of my seat, I was screaming, I was so excited," Zorica Momcilovic said.
“All day we’ve been waiting for this, and this has just been a great experience for him, the fans, for all of us," Nick Momcilovic said.
While there are nerves that come with playing in an arena he grew up visiting, Momcilovic's parents say there's no place like home.
“We’ve been here for Bucks games, Marquette games, so for him to be actually in this arena playing, it’s like a dream come true," Zorica Momcilovic said.
