Crash near Brown Deer and Servite leaves pregnant 32-year-old and infant dead

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Sunday, Jan. 7. It happened around 4:26 p.m., near Brown Deer and Servite.

According to the Milwaukee Police Department, a white Chevy Equinox was traveling east on Brown Deer Road at a high rate of speed and collided with a blue Dodge Caravan that was traveling west on Brown Deer Road and turning north on Servite Drive. 

The driver of the white Equinox was an 18-year-old and lone occupant. The 18-year-old was taken into custody. 

The driver of the Caravan was 62 years old and had three passengers. The passengers were 32, 8, and 8. All were conveyed to a local hospital. 

According to police, the pregnant 32-year-old woman and infant both died.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office says the baby lived for approximately 7 1/2 hours before passing. The ME's office identified the 32-year-old woman as Monique Stewart. 

All other occupants are expected to survive, as their conditions are stable. 

The investigation is ongoing. Charges are pending review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.
