FREDONIA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Camp tends to be a home away from home during the summer for thousands upon thousands of young campers. One inclusive place 45 minutes from Milwaukee is on the top of the list for many.
It's the JCC's Rainbow Day Camp on a 110-acre site in Fredonia.
Of course you'll find all the activities you'd expect, including swimming, arts and crafts, archery and even farming. One program geared toward underserved community members is called "Road to Rainbow Camp."
It's an initiative to teach water safety and swim lessons for 400 kids, K4 through 9th grade, who have most likely never been to camp. The campers who are participating in the program represent 15 Milwaukee-area community organizations and schools, like Gig's Playhouse, United Community Center and Hmong American Peace Academy.
