All things gluten free during fifth annual Maifest at Lakefront Brewery
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It was a busy afternoon at Lakefront Brewery Sunday, May 17, as the Milwaukee staple hosted their fifth annual Maifest.
Despite the chilly weather, thousands of people showed up to enjoy all things gluten free.
More than 40 vendors and food trucks lined Commerce Street, with everyone offering everything completely gluten free.
"Usually, you have to like search for the specific spot you can go at a festival, but knowing everything's like safe here is great," said Garrett Kostrova.
Others enjoyed all the treats they normally don't get to indulge in every day.
"There's certain things as gluten-free that you miss," said Shantelle Cipinko. "So, I've already hit the empanadas. I'm gonna be all over the fried chicken and waffles, having a good beer."
Maifest featured live music and activities, such as German dancers, and the March of the Doxies, a Parade of Dachshunds.
The event also served as release party for two new gluten-free brews, pouring up a total of 10 different gluten-free drafts and casks.
