BAYSIDE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The garage door is considered by many to be the one of the most used and overlooked devices in your house. It's even estimated some 30,000 people are injured by this feature each year simply because of simple human error. CBS 58 spoke with one expert who says you really should stay extra vigilant while operating it since many of us treat it more like a front door.
Aaron Bernstein, Bayside ProLift Garage Doors of Milwaukee Owner, offers up a slew of advice, including to keep your hands and feet away from the big parts. He also advises folks to use a professional when it comes to working on cables, hinges, and especially springs.
It's also highly recommended to make sure your garage door remote control isn't being used as a child's toy. And also never run under a moving door. All this advice comes as we round out "National Garage Door Safety Month" happening in June. Click here for additional garage door safety information.
