Another quick round of snow followed by brutal cold for the first half of next week
The big storm is over, but not without leaving it's mark on southeast Wisconsin. Most of us picked up 12-18" of wet snow with lower totals right along the lake in Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha.
Another quick moving system passes through this evening, bringing another round of light and fluffy snow to the area.
Areas along and south of I-94 have the best chance at picked up another 1-2" of snow through tonight. Blowing and drifting will be an issue with this snow and will cause lower visibility. Due to these impacts, a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Waukesha, Walworth, and Jefferson counties beginning at 5pm tonight through 3am Sunday.
After tonight's snow comes the brutal cold. Wind chills drop below zero tonight and will likely stay below zero until Thursday afternoon. Wind chills will drop between -20° and -25° tonight, so a Wind Chill Advisory has been issued area wide through noon Sunday.
Wind chills will be at their worst Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings around daybreak. That's when it'll feel like -30° with wind chills only improving to -15° to -20° at the most during the afternoon. Wind Chill Advisories are likely each night at minimum.
A fresh, deep snowpack with a true arctic airmass overhead will cause actual air temps to struggle to warm out of the single digits the next few days. Night time temps drop well below zero.
If you're hoping for a period of time with calm winds, that also won't be happening any time soon. Wind gusts will stay between 20-30 mph through the first half of the week, creating the brutal wind chills.
