Happy spring! Monday, March 20 is the start of spring and the vernal equinox. Officially Spring begins at 4:24 PM!
Even though spring starts on Monday, the "equilux" which is the day of 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of night happened a few days ago. The difference is due to how we measure the sunrise and sunset by the top or bottom of the sphere of the sun instead of the middle. Sunrise time on this first day of spring is 6:55 a.m. with a sunset of 7:03 p.m.
Through the first two and a half months of 2023 we haven't any major surges of warmth but we also haven't had much cold and it is currently the third warmest start to a year on record with an average temperature of 32.4*.
The start of spring will bring with it fairly close to average highs in the middle to upper 40s and even a few locations seeing 50 here and there.
