MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- There's a third political ticket circling around Milwaukee -- Bacon and Beer 2024. It's a campaign put together by the Historic Third Ward neighborhood.
Called Beerpartisanship, organizers say it's an attempt to bring people together from both sides of the aisle over some ale. Mike Doble, one of the organizers, says it started as a joke, but with the Republican National Convention in town, Doble says there's no better way to discuss political differences than over beer.
From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., people got to listen to music, drink, and talk politics at Catalano Square. Several attendees say in order to solve problems, they believe people need to find common ground.
Organizer Mike Doble says he believes it's time to bring respect back into politics.
“You know, a lot of times politicians, you know, polarize us and find extremes and you know, most of us are not extremists, you know. We just want people to live and let live and treat others with kindness and respect and that’s what this event is all about," said Doble.
Doble says while the event began as a light-hearted take on the political cycle, he does hope politicians see this event and come to more agreements with each other.
