Big trucks will roll in to Red Arrow Park for free family fun May 21
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Fun for the whole family! In celebration of National Public Works Week, big city trucks will roll into Red Arrow Park on Saturday, May 21 -- and the event will be free!
According to a news release, in partnership with Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21* the City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works and Milwaukee Fire Department will host a fleet of vehicles around the park, allowing kids an up-close look at various City equipment and occupations. Vehicle operators and drivers will be on-hand for demonstrations so families will have a chance learn about the equipment and the jobs that go with them.
"We have great workers and great opportunities for careers within public works. This event will give curious young minds a chance to learn about the service these workers provide while learning about the tools and equipment these dedicated professionals use,” said Mayor Cavalier Johnson.
In addition to exploring big City trucks, the park will host free activities for the entire family, including coloring books, face painting, bubble art, and a basketball free-throw contest. The Friends of the Milwaukee Public Library will hold a book sale which is a great opportunity to stock up on summer reads. Lunch and ice cream will be available to purchase from local food trucks.
Organizers say the event is ideal for kids ages 2-7.
