MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A somber ride happened this weekend, motorcyclists gathered for the 'Biker's Unity Peace Ride,' on Milwaukee's north side.
It's a yearly event to honor the bikers who died in accidents on the road.
The ride kicked off near 51st and Woolworth, just off of Mill Road.
After a ride through the city, the went to McGovern Park.
Organizers say it's important to spread awareness of bikers on the road, especially as the weather gets nicer.
"It's important for me because I've lost a lot of friends because of reckless drivers," said organizer Terrell Euell. "We just want everyone to be aware. That's what this ride is, to ride through the city to get everyone to be alert, like 'hey, motorcycles are out here so be on the watch out.'"
This was the 11th year the organization has raised awareness for bikers.
After the ride, bikers set up at McGovern Park for a free barbeque for families in the area, with bounce house and toy giveaways.
