Boerner Botanical Gardens set to open May 1 for 2024 season
HALES CORNERS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Boerner Botanical Gardens is preparing to greet visitors with a burst of spring color as it opens for the 2024 season on Wednesday, May 1. Located in Hales Corners, the gardens offer floral displays and serene landscapes designed for fun and education.
The upcoming season invites guests to explore 12 formal gardens, including a rose garden, peony garden and a unique daylily garden.
Covering several acres, the Botanical Gardens features thousands of plants that bring the warmer seasons to life. Visitors can stroll under blossoming crabapples, admire the carefully curated gardens or enjoy an afternoon in the Garden Room overlooking vibrant floral arrangements.
For families, Margie's Garden offers an "enchanted village" and interactive installations that engage children with the natural world.
Guy Smith, Executive Director at Milwaukee County Parks, emphasized the garden's value in a Tuesday, April 30 press release, stating, "Boerner is a gem in the County Parks system, and I can't think of a better way to spend a day with loved ones than to do it at the Botanical Gardens."
The gardens will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Sept. 10, with varying hours for the Education and Visitor Center and other facilities. Admission prices for Milwaukee County residents range from $5 to $8, while non-residents will be charged $6 to $9. Special rates apply for groups, students, military personnel and people with disabilities.
