MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Hometown kids got a chance to play some baseball on the field with Devin Williams on Tuesday.

It was all part of a donation made to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee that they say makes a huge difference for them.

The kids with the Boys & Girls Club RBI League not only got a chance to meet Devin Williams in Sherman Park, but they also got to play under a new scoreboard.

"It's not my first time seeing someone from the Brewers pitch, I've been to lots of Brewers games before, but it was kind of exciting to see him from right there," said 13-year-old Laila Adamany.

She and many other kids got to see Devin Williams throw a few slower than usual pitches and see a Johnsonville sausage race up close.

While those memories may last a lifetime for the kids, the Brewers Community Foundation left another long-lasting gift for the community.

"We work hard all year long to generate resources to support kids and their families throughout our community, so when we have an opportunity to partner with a company like U.S. Cellular, we're thrilled to find something meaningful to do," said Executive Director of the Brewers Community Foundation Cecelia Gore.

Officials with the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee say support for programs where kids can get exercise and learn valuable skills goes a long way.

"It's a great way for kids to socialize and to learn leadership and character skills. It's also great to see the park really active and full of kids, we think it's exactly what needs to happen in Sherman Park," said Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee President and CEO Kathy Thornton-Bias.

She says this new scoreboard, replacing an outdated one, gives the park, and community, something to be proud of.

"It's a beacon, I think, for the sports and recreation programs here in Sherman Park, and more precisely, at the Boys & Girls Club," said Thornton-Bias.

"It feels good to know that they chose to put the new scoreboard here, rather than any other place it could've been."

Officials with the Brewers Community Foundation say this new scoreboard, along with another one at Hank Aaron Field in Lincoln Park, cost a combined $60,000.
