MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Brewers outfielder Tyrone Taylor and hitting coach Ozzie Timmons helped kick off SHARP Literacy's summer learning program at Neighborhood House of Milwaukee Tuesday afternoon.
Taylor and Timmons talked to students about the importance of reading and how it is used in professional baseball every day.
SHARP is hoping kids can avoid the "summer slide," where they estimate kids lose 20% of what they learned in school the previous year if they don't stay mentally active.
"Learning is important to me in general," Taylor says. "It's something that I value in my life and being able to be here, hopefully a role model like me and Ozz helps it sink in a little bit more."
