MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Members of the Milwaukee community came together in an effort to combat summer blood shortages Wednesday.
Versiti Blood Donation Center and the Brewers partnered for the Swing Nice, Save Lives blood drive at American Family Field.
The goal of the drive was to impact over 600 Wisconsinites in need of a blood transfusion over the span of two days.
Regional Manager Courtney Clyde commented on why every donation could make a huge impact on people's lives across the state.
"It is very, very important that while we are healthy and able to donate, that we come out and help others. Because we know that if we are ever in a position that we need a transfusion, we are going to hope that someone healthy is willing to donate for us," Clyde said.
Participants received two free tickets to an upcoming Brewers game as a thank you for their generosity.
