Catholic Memorial HS students spend day giving back ahead of the holiday

WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- For many students, Wednesday, Nov. 27 was a day off. But for students at Catholic Memorial High School, it was a day on.

The sixth annual Crusader Day of Service brought together hundreds of students, alumni, parents, faculty, and staff to dedicate their time to those in need.

Some of the activities included delivering lunches to organizations serving the homeless, knitting hats for babies in intensive care, and stuffing backpacks with food and school supplies.

It's a lot of work right before the holidays, but service is what it's all about.

"Service is part of our DNA, it is what our kids, our students, our faculty and staff emulate every single day at Catholic Memorial.

Crusader Day of Service impacts more than 30 organizations and provides more than 1,500 hours of service to the community in just one day.
