Cedarburg woman charged with embezzling more than $100,000 from local schools
RACINE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A hot tub, new appliances, and vacations are just a few of the things a Cedarburg woman bought as she allegedly embezzled from local schools that cater to children with autism and disabilities.
Fort-two-year-old Heather Wenthold is charged with four felonies related to theft and a misdemeanor for deleting computer data. According to a criminal complaint, she worked as a principal and executive financial employee at a Sonnenburg School location.
The owner of the schools got suspicious when she learned Wenthold only showed up to work five times. She also learned that Wenthold was working full time at the Cedarburg Art Museum.
When Wenthold was told she was fired, she logged into the school's system, and deleted more than 5,000 files. Wenthold then shut down the email system.
Wenthold is being held at the Racine County jail on a $50,000 cash bond.
