MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- May 5 has special meaning for those who love to celebrate Mexican-American culture.
While the day, known as Cinco de Mayo, originally started as a celebration of the Mexican victory over the French in a battle from the 1860s, it has since become much more festive with lots of margaritas, chips and salsa, and bar crawls.
Blue Bat in Milwaukee's Third Ward and Chucho's Red Tacos on the south side are just two popular spots offering promotions throughout the day. Milwaukee Magazine has a list of some of the day's fun events.
