City of Milwaukee investing $10 million in ARPA funds to improve street lighting

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, along with several other local officials, spoke about the improvement in street lighting that the city will see.
Mayor Barrett says the improvements are part of the city's plan for American Rescue Plan expenditures.
Around $10 million will be spent from Milwaukee's first allocation of funds to modernize 13 of the most troubled areas of street lights.
"We're investing $10 million of the ARPA funds to do that," Mayor Barrett said. "That is a very significant investment to improve the quality of live and to improve public safety here in the city of Milwaukee."
Mayor Barrett says in May, Milwaukee will receive another $197 million in relief funds to improve its infrastructure.
