OCONOMOWOC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Authorities responded to a crash involving a train and multiple vehicles in Oconomowoc Friday, Nov. 22.
Officials were called to the train crossing near Summit Avenue and Main Street just before 1 p.m.
According to the Oconomowoc Police Department, one vehicle was struck by the Canadian Pacific freight train and two other vehicles sustained damage as a result of the collision.
The operator of the vehicle struck by the train was injured and transported to the hospital.
Witnesses told CBS 58 that people often try to beat the train by running through the signal.
“He got out. I mean they took him out, jaws of life. Took a while to get him out, but yeah. It’s a public safety issue and they need to work on it. I don’t know how they’re gonna stop the bars from coming down and someone going through," said witness Robert Beavers.
The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation.
