Complaint: Man charged in crash that killed retired priest was looking at Snapchat prior to crash

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- We have new details in the death of a retired priest killed in Wauwatosa back in February.

Ninety-three-year-old David Gau was killed as he was crossing Wisconsin Avenue.

According to a criminal complaint, Gau was hit by 24-year-old Clay Schueffner. It says he stayed at the scene after hitting Gau but told police he was looking at his speedometer and GPS screen.

After taking his phones, police found Schueffner's Snapchat app was being used while driving, opening a message one second before the collision.

Schueffner is now charged with homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle.

He's currently out on a $35,000 signature bond.
