Pat Connaughton helped tip-off Mukwonago High School's annual Free-Throw-A-Thon benefiting Make-A-Wish Wisconsin this weekend. Wish kid Wyatt Lewitzke spent time with the NBA champion, helping raise more than 27 thousand dollars.
"My favorite part was when I got to get my jersey signed because this doesn't happen much often."
Wyatt's mom Lisa says, "Wyatt doesn't show a lot of emotion and yesterday he was jumping out of his skin. As a mom to see that it was all of the things. It really, I'm still living on the high today a little bit."
Wyatt's wish to go to Disney World was granted in 2014 before brain surgery. The family calls the trip life changing.
"You can't see the sun within the clouds, you just can't. Make-A-Wish did that for us. Anything that we can do to pay it forward and to grant more wishes and see other families come out of things."
The Free-Throw-A-Thon goes until next Friday. Make-A-Wish Wisconsin hoping to raise $100,000 which would help grant a dozen wishes. You can find more information and donate here: 2021-22 Wish Your Way Wisconsin: Mukwonago for Wishes - Make-A-Wish Foundation.
