WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- On Thursday morning, Betty Streng, along with her Dancing Grannies teammates, dedicated a parade to the medical staff at Aurora St. Luke's for helping her recover after suffering a severe brain injury during the Waukesha Christmas parade tragedy.
It took Streng months to get back to almost normal. Her recovery process is still going.
Her surgeon, Dr. Christopher Sarkiss, said if it wasn't for the medical team's quick response, she wouldn't be doing what she does best today.
"She was dying right in front of our eyes on that Sunday night, and just to see her, you know, back to pretty much normal, is just an honor," said Dr. Sarkiss.
Streng said she's equally as thankful for the medical staff.
"The fact that I'm here walking and talking, dancing, just proves he does a good job," said Streng.
Streng said what keeps her pushing forward is her community and her teammates. She continues to dance in order to honor her teammates she lost to the Christmas parade tragedy.
"They died doing what they love. How can we not keep on dancing for them? They would want us to be here," said Streng.
