MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office has identified the deputy involved in a fatal crash near 10th and State as 50-year-old Deputy Sheriff Joel Streicher. 

The crash occurred just after 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25. 

The on-duty deputy was driving in an unmarked vehicle with his canine partner when he collided with another vehicle, killing Ceasar Stinson, a 47-year-old lobbyist for Milwaukee Public Schools. 

MPD is conducting an investigation. 

Streicher has been with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office for 23 years. 

He has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. 

Sheriff Earnell Lucas released the following statement:

"Our entire community grieves the loss of Mr. Stinson, a man who has made significant contributions to the quality of life in the city of Milwaukee. We pray that his family is comforted in knowing that his life had an impact on youth in our community."

"He was passionate about young people in the district as well as in the community," said MPS Superintendent Dr. Keith Posley. "His death is a great loss to Milwaukee Public Schools and also the entire city of Milwaukee."
