Driver arrested for suspected OWI after injuring MPD officers in crash

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Two Milwaukee police officers reportedly sustained injuries early Monday, Jan. 1 in a crash involving a squad car and another vehicle at Water and Highland.

According to MPD officials, a 27-year-old woman drove her car through a road closure and struck the squad car containing the officers. The impact resulted in injuries to both officers, aged 45 and 38, who were subsequently transported to a local hospital.

Their injuries were described as non-fatal, and no other injuries were reported at the scene.

Following the collision, police arrested the driver of the first vehicle on suspicion of operating while intoxicated. The incident is under investigation by the Milwaukee Police Department.
