Exotic pets await new homes in Wisconsin following pet surrender event

CHILTON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Wisconsin residents interested in exotic pets have an opportunity to adopt, as a local organization seeks homes for over 20 animals. J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue's pet surrender event on Sunday, Dec. 3 in Chilton saw a significant turnout.

John Moyles, J&R's director, highlighted the variety of animals they're aiming to rehome in a Tuesday, Dec. 4 press release. "We are geared towards exotic animals like fish, birds, and reptiles, so when someone surrenders large amounts of domesticated animals like guinea pigs, it really leaves us scrambling for resources."

The Sunday event concluded the organization's series of 18 events this year, reportedly rehoming 380 animals. Looking ahead, J&R's Aquatic Animal Rescue is planning 29 events across Wisconsin in the coming year, expanding their reach in responsible pet rehoming.
