MILWAUIKEE (CBS 58) -- A family is still searching for answers after their 29-year-old son was shot and killed last week near 25th and Capitol.

Joyful and bright is how 29-year-old Trevion Sims’ family remembers him.

“Just the life of the party. Always playing jokes,” said sister Jayla Perkins.

Those are the memories they’ll hold onto.

“He walked into rooms and lit them up with his laughter, with his smile, just his presence,” said sister Destiny Turner.

Last Wednesday, Milwaukee police responded to a shooting near 25th and Capitol shortly before 7 p.m. Perkins says her brother was at a friend’s home when two people began arguing.

“And he came out being who he was, being protective over a woman, and ultimately was shot,” said Perkins. “This was really just senseless.”

Sims died at the scene. Milwaukee police have not made an arrest in the case and say they are still looking for unknown suspects.

“I want justice for my brother,” said Perkins.

Perkins says Sims was a loving dad to his 5-year-old daughter, whom he called his princess.

“She woke up having nightmares. Saying that she just needed to wake up and pray. That says a lot. She is 5 years old,” said Sims.

His family says they’ll continue to fight for justice until Sims' killer is found.

“I will never be able to touch again, feel again, see again. Like no matter what we did, what we went through in life, we always had each other,” said Turner.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Milwaukee police at (414) 935-7360 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at (414) 224-TIPS or through the P3 Tips app.

Meantime, family has set up a GoFundMe page.
